How Jesus Saves … Jesus and Regeneration
On Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Pastor Dan’s series about “How Jesus Saves”, he focused on the word Regeneration.
Titus 3:5-7 tells us how we are saved:
“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (regeneration), whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”
The BIG Definition of regeneration is: When God brings spiritual life to the spiritually dead so they can trust in Jesus.
The word regeneration comes from the greek word palingenesia which means renovation; restoration.
The Order of Salvation:
- Jesus’ death atones
- The Call
- Regeneration so you can respond to the call
- Faith
- Justification
The Point of this message is Jesus’ death caused God to give us life.
Our salvation is a miracle of God — a life has be regenerated and renewed!
Things to Think About:
“Live like you’re alive.” — “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” — Ezekiel 36:26-27
“God picked you!” — “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in sin–it is by grace you have been saved.” — Ephesians 2:4-5
“You weren’t meant to be ‘normal’.” — “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
I would like to add: 2 Corinthians 5:21 — “God made him, (Jesus), who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
