A Leading Church is a Reading Church

A leading church is a reading church. As believers, we have the ability to continually challenge and grow our minds through the gift of reading. Pastor Dan has mentioned that this has not been a big discipline most of his life. However, over the last few years, he has used Goodreads to help set goals and challenge himself to read more consistently. It has enriched his thinking, and he wants to encourage our church to discipline themselves to read–and to read books you wouldn’t normally read–to gain more insight and understanding.

We aren’t living in Mayberry anymore. Aaron Renn diagnosis the current era we live in and how we got here: where publicizing your Christian faith has become a liability and even a danger. He takes us through the decline of Christianity in the eyes of American culture and gives some simple suggestions on how to move forward as the church despite the resistance.

This is a short version of a longer book, The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self. Carl Truemann looks at some of the cultural issues that have become mainstream over the last 10 years and looks back through history at how we got here. It will help you understand some of the current problems in our culture in a deeper way. This is an up and coming classic and is very thoughful.
